The flip-side of this is incredible. Like Lee Perry gone berserk doing some extreme scratching. This single was on the jukebox in my college pub ('74). My friends and I would play it over and over and drive out the other patrons. Finally the school removed the single and we mounted a faux-protest, comparing the removal of Shaft Meets Superfly Part 2 to the negative reception given to Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Our letter to the school newspaper was printed with the title "Le Sacre du Shaft??"
Thanks JBM...any chance of posting the track? I'd love to post links from my FB and blog pages...and more to the story...a year or so later I played in the first (pre) new wave band in Buffalo and we actually worked up a cover version of this. to the extent that it could be "covered", let alone vaguely replicated...
This is simply a blog where I post interesting 45s that I come across. I'm not an expert on records or music history and I'm fairly lazy, so don't expect a lot of exhaustive background or research. Comments are highly encouaged...
Most of the music files presented here come from my personal 45 collection and are posted for purposes of musical enlightenment only. These are mostly obscure songs, over 40 years old, that may not have been reissued on CD. The intention is to raise awareness of underappreciated artists/songs. If you like what you hear, seek these artists out on CD or get out there and find some of this old vinyl for yourself... If you are the copyright holder and wish any files to be removed, I will do so immediately upon request.

Bruce,
Ordinarily I don't do requests, but I'll see if I can get this up for you tomorrow...
