Misogyny Mix & Mystery Song Contest! Warning: Offensive Content Alert
Extended Misogyny Mix
MP3 File
As a furtive baby step toward creating an official podcasting blog, I have prepared the above extended mix MP3. This is a compilation of songs from my collection that are all related to misogyny, wife beating and/or murdering one's baby. Note: I am in no way condoning these sentiments. I only put this together because I thought it would make an interesting mix. Oddly, over half of the songs here are from Louisiana and/or New Orleans. Hmmmm, makes you think...
Track List:
1. Smiley Lewis - Jailbird
2. Lonesome Sundown - You Better Learn to Treat Me Better
3. Raymond Lewis - I'm Gonna Put Some Hurt on You
4. Bobby Bland - Cry, Cry, Cry
5. Aaron Neville - Over You
6. Blue Charlie - I'm Gonna Kill That Hen
7. Pat Hare - I'm Gonna Murder My Baby
8. Sugarboy Crawford - Watch Her Whip Her
9. The Crystals - He Hit Me (and it felt like a kiss)
CONTEST!!
Bonus Mystery Song
????????????
MP3 File
As a bonus, I submit to you the following mystery song in the same theme. This is a song that I put on a cassette tape many years ago, the title of which I can no longer remember, nor the artist. The first listener to correctly identify song title and artist will win a mystery prize pack (basically whatever stupid crap I have sitting around my desk) Good Luck! (with apologies to Red Kelly for stealing his bit, from Soul Detective)
*Editor's Note* Many of these songs are outrageously offensive. Not for the overly sensitive. Listen at your own risk!

To be honest, I find the idea of a "misogyny mix" really distasteful... because a lot of people suffer domestic violence every day. I know you might think the title is catchy, but ... maybe you could rethink the whole thing?
You've got an interesting blog, so I'll be dropping back in to check out other posts.
Best regards,
s.
excellent! email your address to jukeboxmafia @ hotmail DOT com and I will send you some stuff...
Spinning, I understand your concern and honestly I expected some people to take offense. I merely find it interesting that so many of these songs were recorded and presented as "novelty" songs in the fifties. I'm merely offering these as an historical and musical curiosity. Thanks for your comment...
great idea for a theme, controversial but ya cannot argue with the quality of the music! hey just try ....lol
one thing tho, i'd love to be able to download the mix but don't seem able to have that option, any chance you can email it to me

Matt,
Thanks for your supportive comments. I put these things up and never really know what people think, so it's nice to hear something positive. As for the download, you should be seeing a link under the player that says MP3file, but if that isn't working, I will certainly email it to you also...

Hey Hank,
Don't you think that 5 weeks is a bit long between blog posts? I'm thinking maybe you should go visit with your grandparents again...
You're five weeks ahead of my time.

Matt,
Did you ever get the files I emailed you?
hi blake
sorry for the delay, yeah i got 'em & they sound great together; themed mixes are a great idea tho (hey don't suggest it to zimmerman ha ha); thinkin' of some great songs now - if you do any more i can suggest clothes as a theme, or cars, or dances, or trains....hey where's this goin'???
many many thanks for the emails, it really is good of you
keep diggin' the gold, matt
No problem Matt. Glad you dug it. I have a few more ideas for theme mixes but it may take me a while to get to them...
This is excellent! I would also suggest "Don't Hit Me No More" by Mable John.
Thanks Debbie! Oooh, sounds good. I haven't heard that one...
email me at wfmuichiban@gmail.com and I'll fix you right up
