The Gaturs
The Gaturs
Cold Bear
Audio File Deleted
I'm not a big fan of Funk. As a rule, it just doesn't really do it for me. I generally prefer an earlier sound, but in the case of Willie Tee and the Gaturs, I can definitely make an exception. The Gaturs put out a total of 3 releases* (see comments) on 45. This one is by far the most affordable...

thank you
my pleasure...
So far I found two more Gatur 45s - search wfmu monica gaturs
Found A Hunk of Funk and Cold Bear.
There are more than 4 45s. The Gatur label discography may also be found using Google.
Not a big fan oif instrumental funk - but as a collector, these are important part of New Orleans music.
Thanks again Richard (as always) for your research...
Here is a list I found online by someone in the UK, plus the Atco reissue takes it to 5 so far...
Gatur label 45s
508 The Gaturs "The Booger Man/ Cold Bear"
510 The Gaturs "Wasted/ Gatur Bait"
555 The Gaturs "A Hunk Of Funk/ Yeah You're Right You Know"
556 The Gaturs "Swivel Your Hips/ Pt. 2"
Well then, I guess I should have said: "As far as I know, they only relased three 45s..." This is what I get from trusting my handy record price guide...
No problem, my friend. I, for one appreciate your postings for this record. Never knew about the Gators and Willie Tee before this. Also there are a few more Gatur label releases, 45s, that list Willie Tee as the artist.
It seems as if the instrumentals are credited to the Gaturs, while other 45s on the same label list Willie Tee, if there is a vocal track.
509 Willie Tee "Funky Funky Twist/ First Taste Of Hurt"
511 Willie Tee "Man That I Am/ Sweet Thing" (some copies as Willie Lee)
512 Willie Tee "Teasing You Again/ Your Love, My Love Together"
557 Willie Tee "I'm Having So Much Fun/ First Taste Of Hurt"
701 Willie Tee "I Peeped Your Whole Card/ She Really Did Surprise Me"
8001 Willie Tee "Get Up/ Concentrate
