Bubblegum Music (literally!)

The Clark Gum Shufflers
The Clark Gum Shuffle - Peppermint
?-?
Mid Sixties?

MP3 File
Here's a promotional 7" EP from the Clark Gum Company. 4 swinging tunes perfectly suited for dancing the Clark Gum Shuffle. I was excited when I first saw this, thinking it might contain some cheesey late sixties sounds in the style of a low rent Archies. However, what I found was 4 instrumentals more in the style of a low rent Tiajuana Brass. The tune I have selected, "Peppermint" is the most soulful of the bunch. Anybody remember this disc? Anybody remember Clark Gum?
p.s. The disc and sleeve contain absoltely NO information. No band info, no composer credit, no record label or catalogue number and no date. I made up the name Clark Gum Shufflers myself and am simply guessing at the date. Feel free to weigh in if you know anything about this record...

*Update* Alert tipster Cranched hipped me to this youtube video for the Clark Gum Commercial. Turns out it IS the Tiajuana Brass! Be sure and visit his cool blog here: http://cranchedfornow.blogspot.com/ Thanks Cranched!

Thanks. I collect these ad tie-in records. Is it a paper disc or plastic?

Cool! It's a vinyl disc with a cardboard sleeve. I have several more ad/promo discs that I bought today, which will be featured here in the near future...

I remember Clark Gum. Haven't thought about it in years and had totally forgotten its very existence. Never did The Shuffle, however.

Clark had a Teaberry Gum that made you do the Teaberry Shuffle. Here's an old commercial:

the commercial you posted does indeed have music by Tijuana Brass, "The Mexican Shuffle" with flutes added to the LP version...after several years, clark started using a generic version of the tune, that's what you have on the promo record...this happened around the time clarks added fruit punch gum to the line...1967-68 or so...IF YOU LIKE OLD COMMERCIAL JINGLES, CHECK OUT STOLFPOD.PODBEAN.COM... ---stolf
