We're the Banana Splits

MP3 File
We're the Banana Splits
The Banana Splits
Decca - 32391
1968
Here's an early side from the Banana Splits, with whom I had a love/hate relationship in grade school. So... dumb... yet, must... watch...

*edit: the cover photo above is not from my collection. It's from the hard to find LP from which this single derived. Presented here for illustrative purposes only...

Cool, one I haven't heard before. I was just listening to my Banana Splits records, yesterday. I might even put a couple of them on the blog, sometime.

Thanks Y'all. This is the type of music that is real annoying to me on first listen, but grows on me REAL quick...

I'm 42 and this picture took me back to some moving images stuck there in my brain... so far away. I only know I saw them on TV as I was a little little boy.
Thanks for that brain workout.

I'm a couple of years younger, but this show was run daily in the Dallas area during the mid-seventies, so I remember it VERY well...

You should look up The Dickies cover version.

I remember the album from years gone by.
Looked for it sporadically in the last 30 moons or so and finally found a copy at Goodwill.
V.G. for a buck.

Forgot to mention this shocking piece of trivia, but Barry White and Al Kooper contributed to the "We're The Banana Splits" platter.
The range of songs on it go from twee "Baroque pop" to some seven foot thick funky butt jams.
The hidden treasure track is "Soul".
Riiiiigggggt onnnnnnn!

Wow, now I want a copy of this LP more than ever. Hope I don't have to wait 30 years to find it...
